# Account Access Troubleshooting

> Fix dashboard login problems, reset your password, recover a forgotten account email, activate your account when the email did not arrive, and understand account blocks.

This page covers problems with the anyIP dashboard account itself: logging in, resetting your password, activating a new account, recovering a forgotten email, and accounts that show as blocked. These are separate from proxy connection errors. For proxy connection problems, see [Troubleshooting](/guides/troubleshooting).

<Note>
  Your anyIP account password and your proxy password are not the same thing. This page is about the account password you use to log in to the dashboard. To change a proxy password, open the Proxies page and use Get Proxy Details.
</Note>

## "Failed to fetch" or "Failed to retrieve" on login

If the dashboard displays "Failed to fetch" or another fetch error when you attempt to log in with a known password, it is typically due to an excess of attempts within a brief period. This triggers a temporary rate limiting.
To clear it:

1. Stop trying to log in. Do not make any login attempt for at least 15 minutes. Each new attempt restarts the timer.
2. After about 15 minutes, open the login page in a different browser and sign in again.
3. If it still fails, wait the full window (up to 30 minutes) without attempting, then try again.

Should the error persist, if you have not tried, wait, then request support from the dashboard.

## Reset your password

If you have lost your account password or the dashboard will not accept a password you know is correct, reset it here:

1. Go to [https://anyip.io/account/#/forget-password](https://anyip.io/account/#/forget-password).
2. Enter your account email address.
3. Click "Send recovery email".
4. Open the email and follow the steps to set a new password.

You must have access to the email on your account to reset the password. Receiving the recovery email is the only way to prove ownership and regain access. If you cannot log in to that email, see [I lost access to my account email](#i-lost-access-to-my-account-email) below.

### The reset password page is blank

If [https://anyip.io/account/#/forget-password](https://anyip.io/account/#/forget-password) loads as a white or blank screen, try opening it in a different browser, and disable any VPN before loading the page. If the page is still blank, contact support through the dashboard and include a screenshot of what you see.

## Activate a new account when the email did not arrive

New accounts receive an activation email containing a link. If you have purchased a plan but can't confirm or activate the account because you did not receive the email:

1. Check your spam or junk folder for the activation email.
2. If it is not there, use the password reset as a workaround. Go to [https://anyip.io/account/#/forget-password](https://anyip.io/account/#/forget-password), enter your account email, and click "Send recovery email".
3. Follow the steps in that email to set a password. Completing the reset activates the account.

The reset workaround unlocks the account since it verifies that you own the email address.

## I forgot which email is on my account

In case you use the proxies on a daily basis, but have forgotten which email address you used to create the account, it is possible for support to retrieve this information based on the proxy username. To do so, send a message to support via the dashboard including your full proxy username in this format: `user_0d0cea,type_mobile,country_GB,region_england,city_london`. The support team will match this username against an account and inform you of the email address used.

## I lost access to my account email

In order to reset your password, you will need access to the email that is on your account. The recovery email is the only method of verifying that you are the owner. If you are unable to log in to that email, then you will not be able to reset the password yourself. Send a message to support from the dashboard and explain the situation so they can assess your case.

## Cannot register: "too many sign up attempts"

If registration fails with an error that you have exceeded the maximum number of sign up attempts, the IP address you are using has been blocked. This frequently occurs when using a VPN, as a large number of users may share the same VPN IP address and the shared address will hit the sign up cap.
To work around it:

1. Turn off your VPN and try to register again on your normal connection.
2. If you must use a VPN, switch to a different server or IP and retry.

Once the account is created, you can use the service normally.

## Account blocked

An account can be blocked for various reasons and the resolution may differ accordingly.

### Blocked because the subscription is not active

If you cannot log in or connect and the account looks blocked, first confirm you have an active subscription. An account with no active subscription cannot use the proxies even if data remains. Renew at [https://anyip.io/account/#/plans](https://anyip.io/account/#/plans). For the full rules on expiry, rollover, and top-up versus renew, see [Billing & Data](/guides/billing-and-data).

### Blocked because of a payment dispute

When a payment dispute (chargeback) is opened on a payment linked to your account, the account will be temporarily blocked. In order to review it, contact support from your dashboard and describe what occurred and why the dispute was opened. Support will review the case when they have an understanding of what happened.

<Note>
  Dispute reviews are handled by the team during business hours. A case opened on a weekend may not be reviewed until the team is next online.
</Note>

## Still stuck?

If you have completed the steps above and are still unable to access your account, please reach out to support from within your dashboard and provide:

* The account email address, if you know it.
* A screenshot of the exact error you see.
* Your proxy username, if you are trying to recover a forgotten email.
